(Captain) America The Beautiful

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Looking for a way to completely transform yourself for a few hours this weekend? We found it last night at The Cinema Society & Gucci Guilty sponsored screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Though this is a little off our regularly-scheduled cinematic activities, we may have been converted into comic nerds by the end of the film. For those unfamiliar, Captain America is the big screen tale of Marvel comic super hero Steve Rogers who nowadays is living in D.C. and trying to adjust to the real world, but you can’t keep a good superhero on the sidelines for long. When a S.H.E.I.L.D. colleague comes under attack, he joins forces with Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, to fight a new enemy, but old pal, the Winter Soldier. There are punches, car chases, nail biting scenes, and even a good moral center to keep viewers soldiering on.

Hitting the Tribeca Grand Hotel last night for the screening were the film’s stars Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders (clearly not as interested in catching the How I Met Your Mother finale as the rest of the country was last night), Sebastian Stan, and Frank Grillo who were joined by familiar Cinema Society faces Spike Lee, Helena Christensen, Justin Theroux, Julie Henderson, Michael Carl, Garrett Neff, Amy Socco, Lorenzo Martone, Toni Garrn, Carson Kressley, and Alex Lundqvist. “Every square inch of this room is taken,” Cinema Society founder Andrew Saffir noted before the movie started. Evans and Stan couldn’t stick around for the screening due to a Marvel appearance, but were spotted later a few blocks away at the Jimmy at The James Hotel at the film’s afterparty. We did note a few reporters and editors drooling over the appearance of a bearded and hunky Evans, who miraculously changed into a different Gucci suit for the festivities. Evidently the perks of being a superhero never end…
