At the intersection of demanding and nurturing.
What’s your favorite memory from working at Vogue?
In 1996 I was awarded its first-ever Salesperson of the Year. I was thrilled and proud.
What was your dream job as a kid?
Do you have any hidden talents?
I make a great Stinger while belting out my favorite Burt Bacharach tune.
Your favorite spot in your neighborhood, the Upper East Side?
After all of these years, I still enjoy the burger at JG Melon. It must be the preppy in me. I also have a favorite table at the 21 Club for steak tartare and pommes frites. I am a carnivore.
What’s your signature style?
A Chanel suit during the week, and white jeans and a yummy T-shirt on the weekends.
Do you have a favorite food?
I’m torn between mac and cheese and beef Wellington.
Your go-to wardrobe item at the moment?
After Memorial Day, a white Birkin bag—it goes with everything.
Any restaurants you’re dying to visit?
I still have not gotten into Rao’s.
What color is on your nails right now?
Always sheer pink.
Anything that flies. Having big hair, I’m always afraid something is going to nest in it.
Your traditional summer getaway?
Between Nantucket and Cape May.
What’s in your purse right now?
Wallet, hairbrush, sunglasses, phone, makeup bag. I hate to age myself, but reading glasses, keys, tissues (allergy season), my lucky pen, weekly agenda book, a pair of evening earrings for a quick change, hair tie.
What’s a question you always ask during interviews?
All the best questions are no longer P.C., like, “Where do you fall in your family order?”
What’s your zodiac sign, and is your personality true to it?
Capricorn, and absolutely. I am surprisingly sensitive but obviously driven.
For summer, flip flops, sandals, or wedges?
Slingback Manolos in every color.
Your staple beauty product?
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
I am going to take a cooking class in Italy in the fall, and I hope to come home with the ultimate marinara sauce.
Where would you be if you weren’t at Glamour?
I would be on-air talent at QVC, selling all day long.

Life is short, so wear your jewelry, drink out of your crystal, and eat off your china.
