(NEW YORK) The New York Fashion Week schedule is losing Yohji Yamamoto from the mix, as the designer will be showing his Y-3 collection in Paris starting in January. The coed collection, which is produced in partnership between Yamamoto and Adidas, has been shown in New York since the brand’s inception in 2003.
The Y-3 men’s and women’s collection will now be shown during Paris’ men’s shows on January 19th, at a location that has yet to be determined. Paris is also the destination for the designer’s namesake collection, Yohji Yamamoto. At Y-3’s most recent show, the likes of David Beckham, Justin Bieber, Isabel Lucas, and A$AP Rocky sat front row.
Besides his stylish athletic label, Yohji Yamamoto’s namesake line launched in 1981 as a more expensive alternative to the first womenswear label he started in 1972, Y’s. After incorporating menswear into his namesake line, Yamamoto added his daughter’s eponymous line, Limi Feu, to his expanding fashion empire. Yamamoto’s other projects have included his Y’s Red Label, a lower-priced line titled Coming Soon, and a line of luggage called Y’s Mandarina, created in tandem with Mandarina Duck.
