(NEW YORK) Yesterday, Francisco Costa debuted a softer side for Pre-Fall on his runway. For a season typically marked by buyer-oriented, no-frills presentations and appointments, Costa trotted out a full-on runway show. The chicly laid-back looks that dreamily floated down the runway could have doubled as loungewear. There were extra-slouchy cashmere pants in shades of grey that draped the ground over furry Birkenstock-inflected, Boston style slippers, plus lengthy sleeves that came on oversized coats that mimicked robes and minimalist nightgown-inspired dresses with empire waists in pale pinks, creams, and winter whites. The dresses were paired with furry boudoir-style heels (apparently, the fur shoe trend carries on!).
The mellow vibe chez Calvin was quite a contrast to the Spring collection, rife with stiff deconstructed carpenter-style pants with big cuffs and dresses with ornate fringe. The soft, pared-down feel of the Pre-Fall collection had us dreaming of a fireside. An elegant ski chalet in the mountains would be just the perfect place for this wardrobe, non?
