Moschino Wins Big With Game Show-Themed Runway

Kaia, Bella, Irina: COME ON DOWN! On Tuesday Moschino presented its Fall 2019 collection with a Price Is Right-themed show in Milan. Models styled to look like 1960s game show presenters not only walked the runway, they even got in on the action, embodying their characters on the catwalk’s elaborate set. A series of “prizes” — including kitchen appliances, luxury cars, and a grandfather clock — on display produced the perfect fashion show finale: having the likes of Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid posing and showing off the “goods.”

“It’s a bold, technicolor escape from reality that you look forward to at the end of the day. There’s a reason that game shows are beloved by millions of people around the globe, with as much variety as there are people,” Jeremy Scott said of the theme. He could have added that “a bold, technicolor escape from reality” is a perfect way to describe the Italian label, with its history of campy — and fun — collections.

The clothes themselves mixed Euro-glam with ’60s kitsch. Flashy gold lamé, sequins, and bejeweled accents were mixed with retro logos and iconography. Toward the end of lineup there was a show-stopping coat that resembled a TV dinner tray. Scott never fails to bring fun to fashion.
