Milly Spring/Summer 2017

by The Daily Front Row
It was an explosion of color at Milly this season. In Resort, designer Michelle Smith, was already working out this concept with powerful fuschias, bold blue and white stripes, and prints inspired by Ellsworth Kelly. For Spring 17, she went for stark white contrasted by bold astro turf greens, tangerines, and cobalt blues. The latter was most powerful in a stunning deep-v gown with colorful criss-cross straps in the back that is, no doubt, already being requested for red carpet appearances. The ruffle accented pencil skirts, crop tops with exaggerated bows and bell sleeves, and cut-out dresses will have young girls everywhere placing orders come Spring…those with bodies as fit as Smith’s anyway. Incredibly, Smith managed to find new takes on off-the-shoulder tops—a trend that shows no signs of waning.  Spring/Summer and Resort are Smith’s favorite seasons and the passion behind those collections is bright and clear.
