You might know them from their Juicy Couture heyday or their second stylish endeavor, Skaist Taylor, but Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor have a whole new adventure in the works. These West Coast babes are putting their glamorous spin on casual wear with the label Pam & Gela, with a debut Spring collection. Take note: there will be no terrycloth jumpsuits! Before they make an NYC appearance at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street at 6 p.m. tonight, we caught up with the besties to see what they’ve got up their sleeves…
Tell us about this new collection and the new label! Who’s the muse?
Pamela Skaist-Levy: The collection focuses on the SoCal aesthetic with the native sense of ease and casual chic with an air of sophistication. Who doesn’t want to look kick-ass and also be totally comfortable? Casual luxury is infiltrating the fashion world.
Why did you decide to rename the brand Pam & Gela?
Gela Nash-Taylor: The collection is autobiographical, so Pam & Gela was the vibe.
How can New Yorkers crib a Cali style sensibility?
PSL: True style comes from being comfortable in your clothes; just wear what makes you feel good.
Could you see Pam & Gela turning into a lifestyle brand down the line?
PSL: That’s the goal! We’re working on a website, and accessories are in the near future.
What are your best tricks for shopping with your BFF?
GNT: Have fun and buy things you can share!
PLUS! Bloomingdale’s OVP of Fashion Direction, Women’s Ready-to-Wear, Brooke Jaffe, weighs in…
What’s your favorite part of the collection?
