Green With Envy: Garden Inspo From Frederico Azevedo

by Charles Manning

Each week throughout the summer, The Daily will be highlighting one stunning garden view from award winning landscape designer Frederico Azevedo, owner of Unlimited Earth Care, Inc. Let the beauty of his creations wash over you and get inspired to go digging in the dirt yourself this summer.

“I often use detailed, floral borders to carve paths from sections of grass and build an atmosphere to introduce the house,” says Azevedo. “I used boxwoods clipped into spheres to anchor two perennial borders and continued their forms in the bright orbs of purple alliums that accent the beds. I kept the height of these perennial beds relatively low and layered up to create a gradual vista that ends in the green border at the far edge of the lawn. Curving the path and using staggering plant heights guides the eye through each element and centers the house as the focal point.”

Born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in 1962, Frederico Azevedo has studied landscape design in Brazil, England, and the U.S. and is a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, the American Horticultural Society, and the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons. His latest book, Bloom: The Luminous Gardens of Frederico Azevedo, is available now at Pointedleafpress.com and on Amazon.
