Basketball Star Chris Paul Celebrates Five Four Collaboration

by Sydney Sadick

Last night, Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul kicked off his new summer capsule collection in collaboration with Five Four—a fashion subscription service for men—over a rooftop dinner at Catch New York. The capsule, inspired by the spirit of summer, features a range of versatile athleisure pieces that encompass the NBA star’s personal style. The collection includes mixed media garments, knit shirting, tapered joggers, and layering pieces in both muted tones and pops of color. Paul’s stylist Courtney Mays, who works with Cleveland Cavaliers player Kevin Love and actor Kevin Bacon, to name a few, also worked on the project to weave his personal style throughout the collection. “Each piece is true to the DNA of my personal style,” Paul said in a statement. “It was very important that this collection feel as close to home as possible. I pulled inspiration from every section of my life. My grandfather, the first African-American to own a service station in North Carolina, was a major influence on my style and I wanted to pay homage to him by tying in herringbone prints.”

Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid attended the dinner, which featured a spread of Catch’s signature dishes, including crispy shrimp, lobster mac & cheese, organic crispy chicken, and of course Catch’s signature dessert: the “Hit Me” chocolate cake.

“Five Four, strives to constantly push our customer to evolve and grow with the brand,” said co-founder Andres Izquieta  in a statement. “This is why we continue to partner with talents like Chris Paul, who we have an enormous amount of respect” added co-founder Dee Murthy. “We want to spread the message of empowerment and no one embodies that more than Chris. Aside from being a close friend he is also a role model and we knew he would be an excellent addition to the Five Four family.”
