As a warm escape from the winter chill, Ann Taylor’s Summer 2014 collection took editors on a trip from Times Square to Capri last eve. The looks in the preview were apropos for a summer sail: breezy white skirts, nautical knits, a pale pink dress, and sailor-approved jackets. Combined with anchoring accessories, like heavy gold chains, a bold black belt, and whimsical clutches, Ann Taylor’s creative director, Lisa Axelson, proved her staying power in the execution of chic-approved work wear. She also filled your Daily in on her dream jaunt (it’s not as exotic as one might expect!) and her chaussures of choice for tackling the snowy streets.

As Esquared Hospitality’s creative director, Samantha Wasser gets involved in all the behind-the-scenes work on some of the city’s chicest spots, like the spate of BLT restos, and she’s also a partner at Bar Naná, which lured scads of fashionettes to Gansevoort St. during its NYFW debut. The native New Yorker with an exceedingly fun-sounding gig (oh, and she’s only 26!) schooled us on the anatomy of a hautespot, the candy corn-inflected dessert she can’t get enough of, and the virtues of being nice when it comes to getting past that velvet rope.

The Daily Front Row has a premiere in the works for NYFW: This September marks the launch of the first annual Fashion Media Awards, building off of the mag’s beloved Media Issue and dovetailing with The Daily’s tenth anniversary. The event will take place at hautespot eatery Harlow on Friday, September 6. Honorees for the inaugural FMAs include Stephen Gan, Ingrid Sischy, Joe Zee, Jane Bruton, and Heidi Klum, along with a buzzy coterie of high profile presenters. Media standouts will be selected in categories such as Fashion Magazine of the Year, Creative Director of the Year, TV Personality of the Year, Fashion Scoop of the Year, and Publisher of the Year.
