Rosie Assoulin unveiled a chic new collection of sunnies with Morgenthal Frederics last night at the luxury eyewear company’s Soho boutique on 399 West Broadway. Assoulin worked with Jeff Press, Morgenthal Frederics’ designer, to create statement eyewear in geometric shapes in a brightly hued color palette. “I have always admired Morgenthal Frederics—their pieces are so beautifully made,” said Assoulin in a statement. “It was very organic and fluid. We settled on the shape of the lenses and went from there.” Press and Assoulin first met at their induction into the CFDA when they were seated next to each other. “We spoke about how much we admire each other’s collections, and a conversation was born about the possibility of working together,” said Press.
The frames are finely crafted from Titanium and acetate with flat lenses. The first frame, called Demolition Man, features a small crown panto with a geometric bridge and the second, On the Boardwalk, features an oversized octagon frame. Both retail for $495. If you can’t make it to Soho, check them out at the Morgenthal Frederics boutique in the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle (a hop, skip, and a jump for Hearst employees) or any of the brand’s three locations on Madison Avenue.
