Naeem Khan Spring 2015

by Daniel Chivu

Whether your ideal formal garb involves pitch-perfect beadwork, intricate embroidery, or feats of sculptural volume, Naeem Khan has what you’re looking for come Spring. Even the daytime wear that was strutted out first was dressy enough to segue to nighttime: beautifully beaded short shifts and separates in geometric motifs, paired with spiffed up white sneakers and in some cases flippy black minis. But Khan really got into his groove with the unabashedly femme gowns that followed. Standouts included a stripy series, voluminous and girly, on offer in B&W or cream and brick, and the kind of sheer, intricately worked stunners Khan has down to a T. Need a break from those sheer confections and the classic tinseltown siren fare? A couple of rich rouge looks tricked out with widely-cut flaps at the hem, revealing plenty of thigh with each strut, felt a little saucy. Other options for the gala circuit included satin gowns, slinky, simple, and halter-necked which looked lovely in various hues, including vibrant emerald and cornflower blue. We’d be remiss not to mention those coifs: shiny, bouncy waves that romantically framed the face. We’ll gladly take those tresses, along with Khan’s pretty array of looks.
