Dessy’s creativity and an unwavering commitment to her craft eventually led to the launch of Agápi recently. This turned into an incredible feat, selling one bikini every two seconds. Describing her brand’s success in the realm of swimwear, Dessy reveals, “A piece of advice for anyone in business is to genuinely have a passion for what it is you are bringing to market. I think what stands out about Bydee is so much thought and love goes into each collection and print.” 

Currently serving as the Creative Director and CEO of Bydee, Dessy spearheads the company’s overall operations. She ensures that every collection at Bydee speaks a unique story and carries a meaning. Each swimwear is meticulously designed, with customized prints, hand-beaded details, and personalized gold alloy charms that are developed in-house. This thoughtful approach to designing has transformed each piece into a work of art. 

Apart from the aesthetic appeal, Bydee embraces sustainability as its core philosophy. Every Bydee is hand-tailored using premium quality fabrics such as Repreve yarn made from 100% regenerated polyamide fiber sourced from post-consumer materials. Dessy boasts of her brand’s conscious effort to be plastic-free, a much-needed initiative in the realm of fashion. Besides, all orders at Bydee are packaged in 100% biodegradable and compostable mailer bags, to adhere to its eco-conscious practices. 

Dessy’s resounding success came with its own challenges. She had a hard time learning through trial and error which she describes as a process of “learning fast.” Seeking guidance through networking in the industry has helped her build a strong foundation for her brand. “I am forever inspired by the people around me,” she says. “Having studied fashion and never worked a typical 9-5 job, I found entering business quite challenging. Although I did understand social media, and being active on the Instagram platform in its early days really helped Bydee’s growth.” 

Dessy has always kept a keen ear for customer feedback to help her brand evolve. Her passion and genuine excitement about designing have elevated Bydee from a Sydney market stall to an internationally recognized brand.
