Oscar de la Renta is slated to be honored by a New York institution he’s been involved with for decades: the designer will receive the Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence on April 24. The award will be given by Sanford Weill, Carnegie Hall’s chairman of the board of trustees, in The Plaza’s Grand Ballroom. de la Renta has been involved with the iconic cultural space for 26 years. On the entertainment front for the eve, the festivities will migrate from The Plaza to (where else?) Carnegie Hall, where Julio Iglesias will perform. It’ll be the singer’s first time performing at in the hallowed Hall in a quarter-century.
