On September 6, 2023, the streets of Jersey City will come alive with creativity, flair, and style as the city proudly hosts its first-ever “Jersey City Day of Fashion”. A remarkable partnership between Jersey City, Mana Fashion Services, and Mana Contemporary, this exciting event will bring together culture, couture, and conversation.

“Jersey City has always been a vibrant and diverse hub of culture and creativity,” Mayor Steven Fulop says. Now the city is claiming its spot as a fashion-forward hub. “With the Jersey City Day of Fashion, we’re bringing our local talent into the spotlight and enhancing the cultural fabric of our city,” the mayor adds.

Events will kick off with a welcome press conference at City Hall. City officials will stand alongside two of the city’s big names in fashion at 9.00 am, setting the pace for the rest of the day. Afterward, they will officially flag off the action-packed day and commission all sorts of exciting activities happening all over Jersey City.

Council President Joyce Watterman will oversee the first event, a morning brunch, and panel discussion, at Hyatt House Exchange Place, at 11.00 am. Here, sumptuous treats will accompany thought-provoking discussions about how fashion and identity are connected. Fashion professionals will answer questions and offer insights, giving attendees a new perspective on their wardrobe choices.

From 1 pm to 2 pm, best-selling author Tobi Rubinstein takes the stage to discuss the relationship between faith and fashion at Mana Contemporary. The hour-long discussion will explore how various belief systems guide fashion choices and style decisions.

At 3.00 pm, the spotlight turns to the link between fashion and technology. Virgilia Virjoghe, also known as The Brand Architect™, offers insights into the AI-powered social media fashion era from 3 to 4 at Mana Contemporary. The seasoned expert will dissect the relationship between tech and aesthetics, offering a peek into the future of fashion.

The celebration of art takes center stage at 4 pm at The Westin Jersey City Newport, with Marco Hall’s stunning fashion art. A vivid demonstration of fashion as art, Hall’s work exemplifies the city’s bold spirit, pushing boundaries and sparking conversations.

5 pm to 8 pm is the time for Fashion Mingle at Hilton Canopy Hotel. You’ll learn all about the latest trends and how they’re created. For sneaker fans, Sean Williams will be at AndCo. He’ll talk about sneaker culture from 5 pm to 8 pm, sharing the stories behind your favorite shoes. This time slot is also diversity hour at Mana Contemporary, spotlighting Fashion Designers of Latin America.

The day’s energy keeps going with the Building African Fashion Show at 6:30 pm at Mana Contemporary. It’s a celebration of African fashion and culture, showing how style can connect people from different places. The grand finale at 7:30 pm is a show by Mana Fashion Services and Kornit Digital. Prepare to be amazed by their creativity and innovation.

The night doesn’t stop there. It’s time to party! The VIP Closing Party at Mana Contemporary starts at 9 pm and goes until midnight. You’ll see a runway show by Project Runway star Dope Tavio, and there will be music, celebrity DJs, and special guests.

“We believe this day will spark a continuing dialogue around fashion, culture, and sustainability within Jersey City,” says Martu Freeman-Parker, Director of Mana Fashion Services. As September 6 approaches, the excitement is palpable. Jersey City is ready to show its unique style and creative spirit.
