Beauty Fix: The One Beauty Product You Should Buy This Year

by Julia Talisman

It’s officially that time of year. Your skin is dull, flaky, and probably a little tired-looking. But before you give in to January’s complexion woes, please know there’s hope. It comes in the form of a new face cream from cult-favorite skincare brand, Drunk Elephant.

Conceptualized by Tiffany Masterson in 2012, Drunk Elephant is an editor and influencer favorite (Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine is both a devotee and an investor). Celebrity fans including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kourtney Kardashian and Brooke Shields can’t get enough of the buzzy brand, which is one of the fastest growing in Sephora’s history. Drunk Elephant’s bestsellers range from their T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial (a gentle yet ultra-effective peel/moisturizing mask) to their C-Firma Day Serum. But the line’s latest launch, Protini Polypeptide Cream, may just be its best yet.

Like a protein shot for your skincare routine, Protini Polypeptide Cream is chock-full of proteins and nutrients to replenish and restore. The proprietary formula (which includes a combination of signal peptides, growth factors, amino acids and pygmy waterlily) promises visible and immediate improvement in the appearance of skin’s tone, texture and firmness. But does it really work? Yes.

Dubbed by Masterson as the “get-sh*t-done” cream, this moisturizer really does it all – and quickly. I saw results almost immediately and after one week of use, my winter skin was softer, smoother and brighter (glowy, even!). What’s more, the product’s silky, gel-like texture glides beautifully onto skin. Plus, it’s lightweight, comfortable to wear, and blends seamlessly with other skincare products.

At the launch event for Protini, Masterson wore a perfectly fitting silver mini dress. Her smokey-eyed makeup was flawless – her skin, pristine. “Your makeup looks beautiful,” I told her. “Thank you,” she said. “I’m not wearing any foundation.” I was floored! I’ll have what she’s having, I thought. Now you can too.

Protini Polypeptide Cream is available now at Sephora for $68.
