She’s the founder, podcast host and angel investor redefining modern female empowerment — unapologetic, trailblazing, and impossible to ignore. With the Hot Smart Rich: The Podcast topping Spotify business charts and a growing investment portfolio backing female-led brands, including Nudestix, Allara Health, De Soi, and Mixlab, to name a few, Maggie Sellers is the VC-meets-visionary powerhouse who’s on a mission to help women embrace their hottest, smartest, and richest selves. “Everything we do, whether it’s content, capital, or community, is about helping women build their hottest, smartest, richest lives on their own terms. That’s the mission. And we’re just getting started” says Sellers. Fresh off her CAA signing and in the thick of filming for her breakout podcast, we spent a morning with Maggie at home in L.A.—following along as she balances skincare, self-affirmations, and setting up mics before interviewing top-tier guests (today: DWTS pro Lindsay Arnold). From hydration hacks to camera-ready rituals, Maggie shares how she channels her hottest, smartest, richest self—before noon.
Soft alarms and scrolls.
7:00 A.M.: I used to be part of the 5am club, but after getting into the healthiest relationship of my life, my morning routine took a 180. I hate it, but my phone alarm wakes me up at 7am, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t pull down to scroll through notifications to ensure there are no emergencies. I do try to put the phone away afterward. I’m more successful when my boyfriend Courtney is home though. He keeps me honest. I immediately reach for and chug a glass of room temperature water and dive into my skincare routine.

“I started Hot Smart Rich because I was tired of living a double life. Why couldn’t I be into beauty, fashion, travel, and all the things that truly fueled me, especially when I knew those things made me a better investor?”
Skincare first, coffee second.
7:45 A.M.: I splash my face with water and use a disposable towel to avoid towel bacteria since I’m super acne-prone. I put on a Korean face mask (currently loving OOTD Beauty) and wait 15 to 20 minutes while I tidy up the bedroom, turn off our sleep machines, and get myself into gym clothes. Once the mask is done, or if it’s not a filming day, I use my HSR gua with the Lapis Facial Oil from Herbivore Botanicals to sculpt my face. I apply my new favorite product from Lenox and Sixteenth, THE PRESERVATIONIST, followed by Standard Procedure 50 SPF and ToGoSpa Green Tea Eye Patches. Call me crazy but if you see me at the gym or on a walk, no you didn’t, because I’m typically wearing eye patches for about 2 hours every morning before applying makeup.

Information diet, morning mindset check & movement.
8:00 A.M.: I go downstairs, have a banana with peanut butter (I learned never to have coffee or work out on an empty stomach), make my coffee, and consume my information diet for 30 to 45 min. I’ve started journaling at night to allow for more reflection, but I can’t start my day without some sort of self-positive affirmation. I’ve written down the same four things for over 2 years to help with my mental health:
My voice has value.
My opinion matters.
I don’t create for my critics.
My haters don’t pay my bills.
“The HSR woman is an ambitious, high-achieving force who sets the pace in fashion, beauty, business, and entrepreneurship. She wants it all: financial independence, fulfillment, and a balanced, authentic life that feels holistic and true to her. She’s driven, but she isn’t willing to sacrifice her personal life for her career. She’s tapped into trends, startup-curious, and community-oriented. She wants content that respects her intelligence, speaks her language, and helps her build confidence while building wealth.”
9:00 A.M.: I get in the car, head to the gym, and by the time the coffee has kicked in, I’m ready to go. On podcast filming days, I really try to stay present during my workout because I know the rest of the day will be high-energy and screen-heavy. That hour of movement helps me lock in and feel like myself before I step in front of the camera.
“Hot Smart Rich was born out of a desire to give women the permission to bring their whole selves to work. I help women become the hottest, smartest, richest versions of themselves by investing in female- founded and run businesses. With the podcast and the newsletter, I share the unfiltered version of what it’s really like navigating the startup fast lane. Whether it’s a case study unpacking how Rhode built a billion-dollar brand with a hero product, my real thoughts on the beverage space and Alix Earle’s investment in SipMargs, or the power of female friendships in building successful businesses, everything is designed to make women feel seen, supported, and equipped.” Getting camera ready.
11:00 A.M.: Once I’m back home, it’s a quick turnaround. I shower, do my hair and makeup, and get dressed. Truthfully, I don’t like to feel overly produced for the podcast and typically wear my uniform of jeans, a simple tee, a belt, and I’m barefoot. While I’m getting ready, my team is setting up the studio with the camera, mics, and lights. Then I block out everything else so I can mentally prep for the episode. I review show notes and write out my interview cards. Taking that time right before filming helps me organize my thoughts, clarify what I want to say, and get in the zone. Once I’m set, I head downstairs—and we’re ready to film!

“We launched the Hot Smart Rich podcast this year and hit number 39 on the U.S. business charts in our first week. It’s where I get to have the conversations I wish existed when I was climbing the ranks in startups or navigating early-stage investing.”
12:00 P.M.: Mic check – today’s guest is DWTS pro Lindsay Arnold. I literally had the best day filming with her and can’t wait for people to hear it.
