This summer, Marina Cocher set up shop in Bridgehampton with a pop-up boutique located above Pierre’s. Here’s the scoop on her favorite picks from internationally inspired brands that you can shop right now, and where’s she’s headed next!
How long have you been hosting a pop-up in the Hamptons?
It’s my fourth summer at Pierre’s in Bridgehampton. Last year, I was also in Montauk and Southampton, but Pierre’s is the best place to be.
How did you choose Pierre’s for the pop-up location?
[Owner] Pierre Weber is French, and I knew him from St. Barth’s. He knew about my fashion shows at Nikki Beach and Bagatelle. We decided to try a fashion show when I came to do a trunk show five years ago in Bridgehampton. I hired four beautiful models from Elite for the weekend, and it was a hit.
You’ve continued hosting fashion shows at Pierre’s, in addition to running a pop-up. Tell us more.
I have fashion shows every day at lunch from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. I feature around 10 different looks; I like to start with swimsuits and cover-ups, and then finish with beautiful dresses.
Where are you headed now that the pop-up is done?
[I’ll be] back in St. Barth’s for the winter, starting in November.
What kind of services does a customer get during a private appointment with you?
During my private appointments, I like to give advice on what colors and shapes work with your morphology.
What’s the selection been like at your pop-up this summer?
I have pieces for all ages, from beach covers-ups to hats to jewelry to bags. My best shoes are my wedges, which I have in seven colors. I even have a collection from Africa, with beautiful bags made out of crocodile, python jackets, and Pashmina scarves trimmed with ostrich feathers. Come in and check it all out!
Are there any pieces that you think are particularly great for transitioning from summer into fall weather?
I have received my new collection of sweaters from Saint Tropez. Everybody loves them. I’m the only one in the U.S. who carries them.
What are some of the brands you carry?
I have brands from all over the world, but most of my brands are from Europe, such as Missoni and Versace. I also have new designers I don’t want to tell you about — you need to come in and discover them yourself.
Which trend should Hamptonites try out, ASAP?
Kimonos are very in right now. They’re great with swimsuits, but also with a pair of jeans.
What’s your must-have summer accessory?
I love my collection of handbags and earrings made out of palm trees. They’re very different.
