The Daily hosted a bevy of chicsters last night at Fred Segal in West Hollywood to celebrate Global Intuition’s new collection at the store.
The LA-based brand was founded by multimedia artist YiZhou, who drew inspiration for the line from social media. “It comes from the idea of pieces that I can take out [of my closet] in a year or two and I still feel like I can wear them,” she said last night. “I don’t look at [the clothes] and feel like I wore it last year and everybody has seen it already or its been photographed. We have a classic line.”
The Chinese born YiZhou has a fascinating background. Brought up in Italy, she went to university in Paris and London. “I started as an artist,” she told us. “I started Global Intuition last year in LA, and now we’re part of a group that also has branding, marketing and business. It’s not just clothing. I’m really happy to take this to the next step.” She’s also loving being a part of the expanding art and fashion community on the West Coast. “LA is really attracting a lot of people from all over the world,” she said. “I see a lot of famous curators who move here from New York’s art world. There’s a lot galleries opening. I think LA fashion influences global culture because of celebrity. LA more than ever has become the center of culture and spreading trends and ideas.”
The evening welcomed Misha Barton, Allie and Lexie Kaplan, Christa B. Allen, Lexi Wood, Shaun Ross, George Kotsiopoulos, Rachel McCord, Sam Evans, Eugenia Kuzmina , Derrial Christon, Mini Anden, Taber Schroeder, Iman Asvi, and Bella Harris. Brian Wolk and Claude Morais of Wolk Morais, and Fred Segal’s John Frierson were also in attendance. Music was provided by Caroline D’Amore and libations were courtesy of Remy Martin. Special thanks to Ali Lasky and The Influence team.
