A new exec chez Edun: Julien Labat has been named CEO at the brand. Labat’s predecessor, Janice Sullivan, was at Edun since 2009. As for the new chief exec at the label, which was founded by Ali Hewson and Bono? Labat was previously at Carven, where he was commercial director. Prior to joining Carven six years ago, Labat did stints at Jean Paul Gaultier and Paule Ka. On the design front, Edun (which produces primarily in Africa and has its design team housed in NYC) hired former T by Alexander Wang designer Danielle Sherman as creative director in April 2013.
Labat will begin the new gig on May 1, and will report to the label’s Dublin-based holding company, Edun Apparel Limited, according to WWD.
