Chicaholic: Speakeasy Moderne

by The Daily Front Row

Your Daily Chicaholic has returned! Since Spring has officially sprung, we’ve reemerged on the scene faster than you can say, “where’s the rosé?” Our first stop was at Speakeasy Moderne, an ensemble performance of singers, dancers (Amber’s our fave!), and pure entertainers serving up a mix of Jazz Age Manhattan, vaudeville, cabaret, and just a touch of burlesque. Each month special guests join the cast at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street—ask around as the location’s hidden à la the speakeasy title suggests). And after a quick champers-filled pre-show fête with the cast, Chicaholic scored front banquette seats for international billboard artist Sasha Lazard‘s angelic musings this month. Beyond the eerily romantic and sultry songs of Lazard, the cast opened with a medley of Tin Pan Alley to Broadway tunes (Cabaret, anyone?) with cheeky and audience-interactive moves. On tap, a series of specialty-era cocktails served up by equally divine servers but make sure to dine a head of time as the nibbles are small…and your thirst will be great. The Siren’s Potion’s call cannot be denied with a killer combo of prosecco, St. Germain, and cranberry juice with a twist. Audience members are encouraged to wear their favorite retro gear to truly make it an experience. And darlings, it was! Get tickets for the next 9 p.m. show on May 30th at the website because life in here is beautiful!
