“For me, the palm tree is a woman; it represents the strong woman who knows how to carry herself and who is beautiful, no mater what,” Yigal Azrouël told us about his latest collection. As you might guess, there were plenty of palm trees and accompanying motifs in the designer’s Spring 2015 showing. But his inspiration started with windsurfing, so how did that translate? There were tailored separates, like army green trenches and culottes, with laidback details. And although they wouldn’t fare well within 50-feet of surf, they would be welcome in a seaside town. However, the little D-loop belts throughout added a sporty touch to blouson dresses and apron skirts, while the athletic trend continues to go strong, thanks to pieces like that pale pink dress with maroon ribbed details.
