Wolk Morais Reveals Collection Deux in WeHo

by Eddie Roche

Ready to read one more story about the West Coast’s burgeoning fashion presence? Coming right up…This week, newish brand Wolk Morais, once upon a time known as the accomplished New York label Ruffian, showed their second collection to a packed and impressed crowd at the former restaurant French Market Place in West Hollywood. Front rowers included Elizabeth Berkley, Greg Lauren, George Kotsiopoulos, Kyle DeWoody, Merle Ginsberg, Jen Eagan, Josh Reed, Taylor Swift‘s stylist Joseph Cassell, and Isabelle Fuhrman

The designers behind the brand, Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, renewed their creative energy last year when they said au revoir to NYC and relocated to Los Angeles for chapter deux of their career. “We wanted to have a change and express different muscles,” Wolk told us before the show. “This is a new statement for us.” The youthful collection, styled by their fashion godmother and uber-stylist Elizabeth Stewart (whose two kids also walked in the show), presented 26 looks tailored for the California girl, with a welcome addition of a few lads to the mix.

How has their move impacted the designers creativity? “We have a lot of peace of mind, a lifestyle,” Wolk explained. “We hike every day, we’re able to spend a lot more time creating, we’re not in the subway, we’re in nature, we have the glamour of Hollywood and a garden.”

“Our garden is growing,” Morais added.

After the show, Samsung and Visit West Hollywood hosted an intimate dinner at Laurel Hardware for the designers and their peeps. Cali life and Wolk Morais are a match.
