Why Did Dolce & Gabbana Close Nine Stores In Milan?

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have found a way to tell the city of Milan’s government how they really feel. The boys have closed their nine Milan boutiques for three days starting today in protest of the shabby treatment from the city following their convictions for tax evasion last month. As you probably know by now, they were sentenced on June 19th to one year and eight months in prison each and fined nearly half a billion euros. “We are no longer willing to suffer unjustly the charges from the financial police, tax authorities, the attacks of government ministries and the media pillory, which we have been subjected to for years now,” they explained in a joint statement. “(We) are tired of the constant insults and slanders that deprive us of our peace of mind at work and distract us from our real task as designers.” Snap! The duo added that they’ve “given a lot to this city: prestige, international visibility, jobs, and economic development.”
