Five months after learning that fashion designer and icon Victoria Beckham would be teaming up with Target, editors got to see the collection up-close and personal yesterday at the Victoria Beckham for Target fashion presentation in Chelsea. The designer showcased her budget-friendly range of women’s and children’s clothing over afternoon tea—just as the Brits do!—featuring a spread of tea sandwiches, scones with jam, mini desserts, and of course tea, on long white tables with beautiful flower arrangements. “Every time I look at the clothes, I can’t help but smile,” Beckham said at the presentation. “This collection really is a celebration of VVB, the sister line to my ready-to-wear collection. Believe it or not, it’s the fun side to my personality—contrary to rumors, I do have a fun side and I do smile, and this collection really does make me smile.” The clothes have a feminine, sophisticated feel with clean lines and silhouettes. Standouts include scalloped separates, colorful hues, and floral dresses that instantly put us in Spring fever mode amid one of the snowiest weeks of the year.
In addition to the collection marking Beckham’s first foray into designing for kids (there are also other cute items for the little ones, like a coloring book, paper doll set, and sticker collection), it also marks the widest range of sizes made by Beckham yet. If that doesn’t sound like enough firsts, Beckham also kicked off her first TV ad by giving her Instagram fans a sneak peak in the morning, which features a hit song from her Spice Girls days, “Spice Up Your Life.” We got to see the commercial in full at the presentation—it reflects both the ’90’s Spice Girls nostalgia and the icon/designer we love today.
Mark your calendars: the collection will drop on April 9th in Target stores and online, with select pieces available on VictoriaBeckham.com. The collection will range from $6 to $70 and be available. You can expect this collection to go fast!
