Victor Cruz Is (Basically) A Man Of New York

by The Daily Front Row

Last night we braved Fifth Avenue to head to Tommy Hilfiger’s flagship store for a celebration of their partnership with GQ to honor “The Men of New York” and benefit The Fresh Air Fund, with 20 percent of sales from the evening going to the charity. This year’s honor roll, celebrating the most gifted gents in the city includes The Good Wife’s Josh Charles, Carson Daly, The Lion’s John DeLucie, and New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz. The friendly Giant has become an honorary member of the fashion set due to his dapper duds, last night courtesy of Tommy. We grabbed him for a quick catch-up…

How does it feel to be one of “The Men of New York” this year?
It feels good! I’ve been a fan of GQ forever. I’m humbled and excited to be with all the other men that are honored.

Where do you live?
I live in New Jersey. Right outside of here.

So, this is a little bit like the New York Giants who actually play in New Jersey.
Exactly. If the Giants played in New York, I’d live in New York.

What’s the most New York thing about you?
I have to have a New York slice of pizza any time I’m here. I like Artichoke on 10th Avenue. I love that place. They have all different kinds of pizza. They have a Philly cheese steak pizza. It’s crazy.

What movie are you hoping wins the Oscar this year?
Mandela. I know [Nelson Mandela] passed away today which is unfortunate, but the movie definitely deserves some recognition.

What did you learn about him from the film?
He did whatever he had to do for his people. He went above and beyond. The immense amount of love he had for his family and people was amazing.
