Valerie Salembier Joins Rubin Singer As CEO

(NEW YORK) Former Hearst publishing exec Valerie Salembier continues to surprise with her career choices, and her newest gig is no exception. Salembier has been joined label Rubin Singer as CEO. Singer hails from Russia, is a third-generation couture designer, did a stint as associate coat designer at Oscar de la Renta, and he got buzz aplenty last year for dressing Beyoncé for her Super Bowl performance last year. Singer has also dressed the likes of Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, and Kate Beckinsale since launching his eponymous label in 2007. If all goes according to Salembier’s plans, Singer’s brand will grow into a $10 million business by 2019.

Most recently, Salembier was president and CEO of The Authentics Foundation, an org that educates about counterfeits through their site, DontBuyFakes.com, and through consumer education. Salembier left her SVP/publisher post at
Town & Country in July, after 16 years in various capacities at Hearst, including roles at Esquire and Harper’s Bazaar. Since bidding adieu to the publishing world, Salembier did a stint as assistant deputy commissioner in the public information office at the New York Police Department. She also started a fashion-centric consulting firm, The Salembier Group.

“We are very excited about having Valerie join our company and look forward to benefiting from her experience in branding luxury products,” Singer said in a statement. “She joins us at a perfect time in our company’s history where she will help continue to manage our brand and our extraordinary sales growth.”
