Tom Ford’s New Soleil Neige Shimmering Body Oil is the Blake Lively of Beauty Products

by Charles Manning

Have you ever found yourself wondering, “If Blake Lively was a beauty product, what beauty product would Blake Lively be?” Probably not, but now you are, right? Right!? Well, your moments-long wait for the answer to this eternal question is finally over, because if Blake Lively was a beauty product she would most definitely be Tom Ford’s new Soleil Neige Shimmering Body Oil.

“Why?” You ask. “Why would Blake Lively be Tom Ford’s new Soleil Neige Shimmering Body Oil?” Well, first and foremost, it’s sparkly, and we all know Blake loves sparkly. In fact, didn’t she say once that she liked to mix shimmery powder into her moisturizer? I can’t find the quote right now, but even if it’s not true, it sounds true and in this day and age, that’s all that really matters. Facts, who needs ’em!

Also, it’s expensive. Not prohibitively so — it’ll run you $100 for a 3.4 oz bottle — but just enough that it feels like a special indulgence. That feels appropriately Lively, no?

The color — platinum — also feels very Blake. Tom Ford makes Shimmering Body Oil in gold and rose gold too, and one might be tempted to say that those better match Blake Lively’s perpetually sun-kissed complexion, but anyone can but anyone can shimmer on the beach. Blake Lively shimmer’s in the snow, the rain, anywhere. She’s the personification of the word. You might as well call her Blake “Shimmer” Lively. Also, platinum is more precious than gold, so there!

Oh, and don’t forget about the scent! Tom Ford describes it as a Citrus Floral Musk, with key notes of bergamot, carrot seed, jasmine grandiflorum, karmaflor captive, cistus, and benzoin, but I think it smells a bit like baby powder, which also feels very Blake. To me anyway. I don’t know why. Not everything needs to make sense. Just go with it.

The body oil is part of a whole range of new Tom Ford Soleil Neige products, which includes fragrance, eyeshadow, lip balm, glow drops, and more. All the products have an icy shimmer quality, which is only enhanced by Ford’s white and gold (or silver) packaging. So, like, if Blake Lively was a whole range of beauty products, she would be Tom Ford’s Soleil Neige collection. Seriously. Stare at this assemblage of product images below long enough and they actually start to morph into a likeness Blake Lively’s face. No, really, they do! I swear. Just keep staring and repeating her name over and over again in your head. Blake Lively, Blake Lively, Blake Lively, Blake Lively, Blake Lively…
