The Whitney And The Met Face Off With Two Artsy Parties

by Dena Silver

2014 Whitney Gala presented by Louis Vuitton

The art crowd had a big decision to make last night: The Whitney or The Met? Both museums hosted uptown bashes, that naturally drew the downtown crowd. The Whitney’s Gala and Studio Party, which started with a seated dinner and turned into a rollicking dance party, was presented by Louis Vuitton. It was also their final bash at the Breuer Building, before they officially open up their new digs in the Meatpacking District on May 1, 2015. And it drew the likes of Hilary Rhoda, Nigel Barker, Joanna Coles, Padma Lakshmi, Lola Schnabel, Wes Gordon, and Frédéric Fekkai. Guests dressed in Louis Vuitton included Riley Keough, Cindy Sherman and Alexia Niedzielski.

Meanwhile, The Met was hosting their annual Apollo Circle Benefit, attended by Lily Kwong, Audrey Gelman, Giovanna Battaglia, Valerie Boster, Seth Myers, and Laura Brown. This fête was sponsored by Maiyet and the theme was #Cubism to coincide with the exhibition, Cubism: The Leonard A. Lauder Collection. And while we love art, we really adore checking out the art and fashion crowd attire. So here’s a peek at some of the looks at last night’s events.
