The CFDA and The Fashion Calendar Join Forces To Simplify NYFW Scheduling

by The Daily Front Row

(NEW YORK) The latest tweak to New York Fashion Week in a season rife with changes, the  CFDA will be partnering up with Ruth Finley’s Fashion Calendar to streamline the scheduling of shows. The new partnership has been created with the intention to turn the week of runway shows a more pleasant experience for buyers, editors, and designers alike. This collaboration will take effect during the upcoming Fall/Winter 2014 shows, which kick off on February 6th.

The CFDA and the Fashion Calendar will jointly receive requests from designers and coordinate time slots, in order to prevent overlapping shows. The spate of NYFW shows, currently clocking in at approximately 350 showings per season, will continue to be published on The Fashion Calendar’s site and distributed through their print edition, but the CFDA will offer an online alternative. On the CFDA’s website, the organization will present its own version of the calendar that should prove to be an easily searchable, on-the-go reference during Fashion Week itself. The search function will allow viewers to sort by men’s wear, women’s wear, venues, runway shows, or presentations.

The Fashion Calendar was founded by Finley in 1941; the keeper of the calendar publishes a crib sheet of must-attend events beyond NYFW’s biannual outing. Finley will continue to publish her index of events independently from the CFDA, save for the fashion weeks that occur in September, February and pre-collections, including resort and pre-fall.
