We’ll get to the Saint Laurent bit in a second: First, we take this brief break from our regularly-programmed fashion coverage to bring you, arguably, the highlight of Coachella’s weekend une. Nope, it’s not one of the 5,921,726 swag-heavy parties (usually involving pools), email recaps of which are inundating our inboxes right now.
The buzz is at full blast regarding Hedi Slimane’s creative choix at Saint Laurent. In his latest move, the designer enlisted Courtney Love to front the brand’s music meets fashion campaign, which will also feature fellow rockers like Marilyn Manson, Kim Gordon, and Ariel Pink. It’s only natural that he would enlist Love as she was the assumed inspiration behind his grunge heavy Fall 2013 collection. She even applauded him post-show by tweeting: “Having gasms at the idea of rich ladies buying what we used to wear, finally someone got the look exact, no beanies.”
Noticing a bit of David Bowie in the new Hedi Slimane-helmed shot of Kim Gordon for the Saint Laurent campaign. Pictured is an image of Iman’s other half at the WB Radio Music Awards in 1999 and that’s Gordon today. It’s all in the face. Anybody else seeing some similarities or have we lost our marbles?
What’s this we hear? Last night in Paris at Carine Roitfeld’s party to celebrate CR issue deux, Kate Moss came wearing a look from Saint Laurent’s latest collection. Ooohlaaa. Kate and Hedi Slimane have had a long friendship and working relationship, so this isn’t such a huge shocker, but it’s a friendly reminder that she can make ANYTHING work. We’re also digging Riccardo Tisci’s broody face in this shot. Yum.
