Proenza Schouler is headed to Paris! The design duet, composed of Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, will be unveiling an exhibition at Le Bon Marché dedicated to their designs from February 22nd through March 22nd. The space, which rings in at 2,500 square feet, will be playing a documentary on the lives of the designers, along with a retrospective of 80 pieces the duo has designed since the brand started in 2002. As for merchandise, there will be a capsule collection of T shirts, scarves and sweaters, plus their iconic PS1 satchels, in all of its incarnations.

Another Spring campaign du note! The Proenza Schouler boys’ latest campaign was shot by David Sims, and features lots of wind-mussed flaxen strands in addition to pieces from their Spring 2014 collection. Turns out, the foggy, forest-y locale is pretty significant for the design duo…

Strike a pose! Today Vogue premieres their first-ever original music video with Tori Kelly singing an acoustic version of the ballad “Paper Hearts”. The 20-year-old wears Rag & Bone in honor of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s tenth anniversary. A mathematician on our staff reminded us that Kelly was just ten years old when Proenza Schouler walked away as the first winners of the award in 2003.

Naomi Campbell gets the first lady treatment in W magazine’s Global Style issue. Decked out in Proenza Schouler, Prada and Dior on a diplomatic tour of Ghana, it seems Michelle Obama might be facing a bit of competition on the fashion front. Style and fashion director Edward Enninful refers to this transformation as “evoking the kind of timeless style that could have existed in the 1940’s, 60’s, or even today,”

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are always doing interesting new things with fabrics, hence why they’re so often regarded as true craftsmen. Last season, the duo whipped up a tweed pattern from woven leather, and toyed around with heat-infused embroidery on laser-cut materials. So, what was up their sleeves this season? Pleats got lined with thin strips of silver and bronze foil, printed fabric looked like strips of paint, and a shaggy coat resembled fur—but was actually comprised of piles of silk strips. Other standouts from the collection included culotte pants, silver and bronze breastplates (that were, in fact, crop tops). As for that seemingly cracked B&W print on coats and dresses? It was, in fact, printed branches on silk crepe. Plus, those turn-key closure jackets are subtly unique enough that they’ll likely fly off the racks. What’s left to be desired? We can’t think of anything… -
In what might be the first time that we’ve ever given Miley Cyrus the coveted “Look Of The Daily,” we’re going there today. Miley walked the red carpet at the premiere of Paranoia in Proenza Schouler last night, and we’re digging that marriage. We like the occasional grown-up look for the 20-year-old, who was spotted with her honey Liam Hemsworth at the film. Take that, haters.

Barneys puts the spotlight on Lou Doillon, although multi-faceted singer, actress and model had to share it with a marionette replica of herself. The daughter of style icon Jane Birkin posed for Inez van Lamsweerde and Vindooh Matadin in get-ups by the likes of Proenza Schouler for the retailers Fall campaign.

Another dose of Proenza power this week: after picking up top womenswear honors, for the third time, at the CFDA Awards on Monday, yesterday brought news that Proenza Schouler’s designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are retooling the (still very chic!) looks from their very first collection, conceived circa 2003, for an exclusive Barneys New York capsule collection. Expect a few design updates, including better patternmaking, since, as the duo told NY Times’ Eric Wilson, the designers “weren’t the best patternmakers” back in the day. The tweaking process included an expansion of the range: Proenza’s premiere collection was comprised of 11 pieces, and the 2.0 version includes 19 items.
