Fern Mallis corralled a chic set to the 92nd Street Y last night for the latest edition of her “Fashion Icons” conversations, this time with Marc Jacobs who she’s been trying to nab for a year and a half, plus had to reschedule post-Sandy in November. Comme des Garçons has announced today Tao Comme des Garçons is shutting down. The fledgling womenswear line began in March 2005 under designer, Tao Kurihara, who offered a whimsical slant on the Comme des Garçons aesthetic. Unfortunately, the Spring 2011 collection, shown in Paris in October, will be Kurihara’s final creative project with the label that bares her name.

Rock ‘n’ roll is on the marquee for super Erin Wasson and French brand Zadig & Voltaire. Wasson will star in the brand’s Spring Summer 2011 advertising campaign, taking over from rock duos Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart, and real life couples Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Mark Ronson and Joséphine de La Baume.

Here’s one more contact to update: Today, John Galliano S.A. announced the appointment of PR veteran Alex Malgouyres as the brand’s communications director. He will oversee all worldwide public relations activities for John Galliano and Galliano lines, including men’s, women’s, kids, accessories, jewelry, eyewear, timepieces, and fragrance. Previously, Malgouyres spent five years at Burberry, holding the Paris-based post of PR director for continental Europe and PR director for the Americas, based in New York. Prior to that, he worked in the Paris office of KCD, where he spent four years handling PR for Alexander McQueen, Helmut Lang, and Kim Jones in France and Italy. He also worked with clients such as Gucci and YSL. The appointment is effective immediately.
