There’s a new pop-up store to add to your shopping dossier: Opening Ceremony will welcome COS to their Howard Street store for one month, starting October 11th. If that name’s foreign to you, now is a good time to get familiar with it. COS is the sister shop to the H&M label, and it’s got quite a dedicated following. Shoppers have been known to cross the Atlantic in order to score some of their reasonably-priced, minimalistic wares for men and women.
With a little help from Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the beauty advisors wielding makeup brushes on behalf of Estée Lauder are getting a chic makeover. Incorporating the beauty brand’s history and heritage, each of these 15,000 male and female beauty gurus will be bestowed a 14-piece wardrobe in hues of navy, off-white, and jacquard.
Where will all the cool kids be on Saturday? Angelenos will be rushing over to Opening Ceremony on 451 North La Cienega Boulevard for Carol Lim and Humberto Leon bash for their new Rizzoli-published book, simply called Opening Ceremony, which looks back at 10 years of ground-breaking success as retailers and influencers.
The latest genius move from Opening Ceremony mastermind duo Humberto Leon and Carol Lim? These Vans kicks for Kenzo, where they’ve been spreading their cultish strain of cool for the past four seasons as co-creative directors. The Vans x Kenzo creations will be on shelves at Kenzo outposts, the brand’s site, and retailers like OC, Lane Crawford, and Colette next Friday.

NYFW Fall 2013: Monique Lhuillier, Marissa Webb, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Louise Goldin, Moncler Grenoble
The fairy godmother for the luxe set, Lhuillier specializes in outfitting those frequently on the tapis rouge and gala circuit—and she always delivers. This season, jewel tones and lace festooned the runway. To wit: An emerald green, marble patterned strapless chiffon dress with a sexy high slit (Angelina, are you taking note?). An amaranth faille frock, strapless up top and sporting a draped trumpet gown on the bottom, will be a likely starlet choice if the Golden Globes and SAG awards were any indication of what’s popular. Two looks in particular induced a slight bit of magic in the process: an emerald and black ombre column gown sporting flickering, color-changing effects as it moved, and a black spiderweb-sleeved dress with an illusion neckline that elegantly traced the back’s curvature. Lhuillier’s favorite? “I can’t wait to wear the strapless seamed cocktail dress with the net swing overlay.” Until then, Lhuillier plans to hit the slopes in Aspen for four days of much-deserved vacay. Bon voyage!
DKNY is time traveling back to the nineties by way of Opening Ceremony. The New York-based brand is teaming up with the retailer on a limited-edition capsule collection comprised of 15 DKNY items, reissued from the nineties archive, including the iconic skyline print you’ve been missing circa ’92. Expect hooded sweatshirts, color-blocked, zip-front jumpsuits, bodysuits, logo tees, puffers, and leggings that will retail between $145 and $665. The best part? The buzzy collab is slated to hit Opening Ceremony locations tomorrow in New York. Los Angeles, Toyko, and London, along with OpeningCeremony.Us.
It’s another good day for Guillaume Henry. Last night, Demi Moore wore a zippered dress from Carven Spring 2011 to the premiere of hubby Ashton Kutcher’s new film, No Strings Attached. It retails for $830 and will be sold at Opening Ceremony next month.
