Designer Yoana Baraschi is marking her 10 years of success by giving back. Last night, the designer celebrated her new series of dresses, which are part of a collaboration with Conscious Commerce, an organization founded by actress Olivia Wilde and Barbara Burchfield.
A crowd of arty types, a handful of editors, and one Olivia Wilde numbered a grand at last night’s annual Whitney Art Party, hosted by the art museum’s youthful, hip set, aka Whitney Contemporaries. The locale was that sorta-subterranean Skylight at Moynihan Station space under the city’s main post office. And how much did the Museum rake in from its young, hip set of supporters and their pals (dressed, might we add, far more eclectically than the majority of museum benefits one might find themselves at)? A cool $450K and change.
The stunning Olivia Wilde (a fave in this neck of the woods) covers the April issue of Marie Claire. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone star talks about her fiancé, SNL’s Jason Sudeikis, and girlfriend is whipped! “I felt like fresh meat at the market,” she recalls about their first date. “I thought, ‘I’m not beautiful enough or his type.’ I couldn’t wait to sit down and hear him talk. On our first date, in New York City, we closed the restaurant down at 2 a.m.! He didn’t kiss me, and I was madly in love. I was overwhelmed.†Tell us more! Tell us more! The new issue hits newsstands on March 19th.
Calvin Klein Collection
Francisco Costa was sublimely mad for military this season, tempered with a classically Calvin touch of minimalism, of course. Cadet-style coats came in black wool and mohair gabardine with pleating in the back; leather variations sported tightly-cinched waists, oversized belt buckles, and grandly proportioned and squared-off shoulders. Shiny black, white, and navy vinyl accented the Fall roster, from skirts suits to frocks to to stellar tall boots. On the footwear front, said boots got underlined with exaggerated square soles. All-leather dresses also got the square (but certainly not squarish) treatment, thanks to perforated-detail skirts. The effect? A collection doused with sexy severity. Another highlight: a navy ankle-length dress with sculpted shoulders, worn by Caroline Murphy (surprise mod moment!). As for those perched at attention in the front row? Olivia Wilde, plus red carpet tour de force Jessica Chastain, standing her ground front row amidst the media frenzy. The whole slew of Costa’s latest Calvin Klein Collection pieces would look darkly divine on the fair leading lady.
