Fresh off of a run at the Brooklyn Museum, the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition is now across the pond at the Barbican Museum, opening today and running through August 25th. JPG put the final touches on the show before opening doors to the public in London. The exhibition includes more than 140 pieces created by the iconic designer, including the bra and corsets worn by Madonna in concert, costumes worn by Kylie Minogue, and talking mannequins.

London-based luxury retailer and e-tailer Matches will be highlighting vintage Jean Paul Gaultier pieces that will be for sale in the retailer’s Maryleborne shop and online at MatchesFashion.com. The pieces have been made available thanks to Cameron Silver of L.A.’s famous vintage shop Decades.
Ingrid Sischy lands another big scoop for Vanity Fair with Nicolas Ghesquière’s first interview since landing the creative director gig at Louis Vuitton last year. Ghesquière reveals his confident side and tells Sichy that fashion had “chosen” him at young age. “I promised myself: Before your 18th birthday you’re going to be at Jean Paul Gaultier. And it worked. I was hired.â€

By now we know that Jean Paul Gaultier doesn’t just put on a runway show…he puts on a performance. Over the weekend in Paris, he looked to Dancing With The Stars to entertain and inspire. Transforming the runway into the set of DWTS, mods showed off Spring while voguing, tangoing, and shaking their thang in front of fake judges Rossy de Palma, Tanel Bedrossiantz and choreographer Blanca Li.
Simply the best! The Cut reveals the first look at the divine photo of Joan Smalls as Tina Turner in V’s September issue, coming out tomorrow. Tom Munro shot Smalls, who is having a bit of a side career posing as music icons. You’ll recall that last year she walked Jean Paul Gaultier’s runway in Paris as Sade. Who could be next?
Jean Paul Gaultier released his sketch for Beth Ditto’s wedding dress earlier today on Facebook, with his congrats for the new couple. As we reported yesterday, Ditto wed her longtime girlfriend Kristin Ogata in Maui recently and shared a wedding shot on (where else?) Facebook. Reason 4,565 why we love Jean Paul Gaultier. At the end of his show in Paris today, models’ overblown skirts lifted to reveal four little tykes. Clever, enfant terrible. It’s pretty safe to say that he’s the only designer to come up with this kind of new trick and make it work.
