Quite a crowd headed up to Columbus Circle last night at Time Warner Centerâ€™s Screening Room for the premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Hosted by The Cinema Society and Moncler, the New Line Cinema and MGM Pictures film continuing the classic tale begun in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The flick stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, who journeys on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erbor. Freeman is also reunited with his co-stars Ian McKellen and Richard Armitage on the silver screen for the thrilling sequel.
Elliott Erwitt is considered one of the greatest living photographers in the world, with a career that’s involved shooting icons like Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy, and Fidel Castro, as well as eye-catching civilians. Cole Haan also features him in their latest campaign and celebrated the release of his latest tome, Kolor, with a signing on Wednesday night at their Columbus Circle store. The book is his first of color photography and dates as far back as the 1950s. The Daily got to spend a few priceless moments with Erwitt, and he’s quite the character.

Where did the time go? This weekend is the one year anniversary of C. Wonder’s flagship store at The Shops at Columbus Circle and they’ve obviously cooked up some fun plans. The first 100 customers will receive a NYC C. Wonder tote bag each day, lemonade, and sweet treats will be served from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend, and the “Wheel Of Wonder” will be around throughout the day to spin for prizes.
