(NEW YORK) Scoop of the sparkly variety! Swarovski exclusively shared with The Daily the next crop of Collective contenders: Prabal Gurung, Rodarte, SUNO, Band of Outsiders, and Creatures of the Wind. The designers follow in the footsteps of the likes of Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow, who were the first to participate in Nadja Swarovski‘s program, the Swarovski Collective. The program has been supporting emerging designers’ collections since 1999. Each season, the brand lends its crystals to fashion creatives to use in their collections.
While Gurung, Rodarte and Creatures of the Wind have all collaborated with Swarovski in previous seasons with stunning results, we’re exited to see what SUNO and Band of Outsiders will bring to the mix. SUNO designers Max Osterweis and Emily Beatty announced their collection’s inspiration yesterday as a “modern day Joan of Arc,” so perhaps we’ll see crystal coats of armor? The wait continues for word of what Scott Sternberg is cooking up for Band of Outsiders, but the designer has said Swarovski is “like a benevolent patron for young designers and the wild ideas that come out of them.” He’ll hopefully be bringing those wild ideas out in full force!
But New York is just the first stop on the tour du Swarovski. Next up, London designers getting crystallized are Mary Katrantzou, Emilia Wickstead, Eudon Choi, Giles, Marios Schwab and Huishan Zhang. In Milan, No 21 made the Swarovski cut, while in Paris, Maxime Simoens and Masha Ma will be jazzing up their collections with the jewels.
