Stylists Kate Young, Cristina Ehrlich, and Micaela Erlanger Reveal New Designer Obsessions

by Eddie Roche

Last week, stylists Kate Young, Cristina Ehrlich, and Micaela Erlanger sat down with Vogue’Edward Barsamian for a panel at The Roxy Hotel to talk about what they know best: fashion. The panel was a collaboration between the CFDA and The Wall Group, and conversation topics ranged from the panelists’ rising profiles, their clients’ images, and the role of social media. Young styles Selena Gomez, Dakota Johnson, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Margot Robbie and Rachel WeiszEhrlich styles Laura Dern, Priyanka Chopra, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tina Fey, Greta Gerwig, Uzo Aduba, Allison Williams, and Erlanger styles Lupita Nyong’o, Meryl Streep, Diane Kruger, Common, and Michelle Dockery.

So, who are they digging these days? Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh and British brand Halpern were two new brands on their radar. “It’s a stretch for me, because it’s very different,” Ehrlich said about Off-White. “At first I was like, ‘What are we going to do with this?’ But we’re having fun with it and the girls love it. It’s a different way of dressing. We have a dress in the office that’s red and it says “Dress” on it. I’m like ‘Stay young, Cristina! Stay young!’ This is cute! This works!” Erlanger is getting out of her comfort zone with Halpern, which debuted in September at London Fashion Week. “Halpern is something new and unusual for me,” Erlanger said. “It’s the glitziest and sparkliest collection I’ve ever seen. I’ve said this many times, but I stay away from sequins for the most part. This turned me on my head. I was really excited about it.” What were the women wearing at the panel? They coincidentally all turned up in Proenza Schouler.  “I didn’t get the memo about that!” quipped Barsamian. Last night, West Coasters attended at twin event at The W Hollywood when the CFDA and The Wall Group brought together stylists Karla Welch, Elizabeth Stewart, and Ilaria Urbinati for a similar conversation moderated by Melissa Magsaysay.
