The CFDA’s CEO, Steven Kolb, took a moment out of his very busy night to discuss his stress levels and how he deals (meditation, darlings!), plus his haute new set of wheels…
How stressed do you get before the CFDA Awards?
I pretty much go numb that 48-hour period before it. Today, I went home at 4 p.m. and meditated; I started meditating a year ago. I did 20 minutes of meditation so I could relax. But the stress is really limited, because there’s such a huge team who works on this. Everyone’s so professional, from stage managers to script writers and managers to talent managers to production managers, creative directors, writers, photographers…everyone’s been doing it for a very long time.
Are you celebrating after?
Yes, I’ll be going to the official Refinery 29 CFDA After Party. I really have no time to do anything but go back to work, because the men’s shows start July 13th and we just announced the schedule, so it’s full speed ahead with that. No relaxation!
Any fun weekend plans?
I’m going to Fire Island the weekend before the Fourth of July.
Fun! So what’s been your biggest indulgence lately?
A new car. I was driving a 2007 Honda CRV, and just on Friday night I traded it in for a Mercedes SUV. Every time I say it, though, I’m embarrassed. But we need a new car! It’s really nice; it only had 11 miles on it.
