Stella McCartney & Bolt Threads Celebrate Partnership

by Eddie Roche

Stella McCartney was in New York this week to be a part of the Vogue Forces of Fashion Conference yesterday and host a party at her gorgeous new Madison Avenue digs (a must-see) to celebrate her partnership with Bolt Threads. McCartney co-hosted with Bolt Threads CEO Dan Widmaier, who partnered with the brand in July to create fabric innovation and usher in the next generation of cutting-edge textiles.

Their first collab is on display at MOMA through January 28 at the museum’s, “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” exhibition. The brands worked to create a one-of-a-kind, gold dress that is custom-knitted and made entirely out of Bolt Threads’ Microsilk. They also debuted a brown knitted parachute pant and brown knit bodysuit using Microsilk at the Stella McCartney show in Paris this season.

A few of the bold-faced names joining MCartney and Widmaier on Wednesday night included Cindy Weber-Cleary, Fern Mallis, Martha Nelson, Michelle Obama’s stylist Meredith Koop, and Fast Company’s EIC Robert Safian
