Spring 2020 Paris Men's Fashion Week

DAY 4: June 21, 2019

Dior
Daniel Arsham designed Dior’s runway with sand dyed pink and plaster figures in the middle spelling out the brand’s name in the artist’s signature style. Kate Moss attended with her teenage daughter Lila, and her boyfriend Nikolai von Bismarck. Kim Jones’ collection was a crowd pleaser, starting with asymmetric suits and sneakers. Transparency was a major theme this season, with sheer shirts and even clear-plastic shoes. The accessory that stood out the most in the collection were without a doubt the belts with big buckles, and Dior’s collaboration with Rimowa.

Berluti
Berluti’s fashion show took place at the Luxembourg Gardens during a lovely early afternoon in Paris, where celebrities like Joe Jonas, Ricky Martin and Natalia Bovianova — the centre of attention with a teal suit from Kris Van Assche’s new collection — sat front row. Monochrome looks were at the heart of the collection in bright colors. My favorite was an all-orange look comprised of leather pants with an opening that showed off leather shoes, and a hooded t-shirt with a floor-length vest over it. Gigi Hadid stole the show in an aqua suit covered in delicate feathers.

Balmain
Balmain’s show coincided with the Fête de la Musique, a public music festival. The house gave out 1,500 free tickets to the public, turning the show into a party. The night started with music by DJ Kiddy Smile on a big set that looked like a rock concert. The models wore transparent and black acrylic glasses. Among them was Natalia Vodianova’s son, Lucas Portman, making his runway debut. Coats and tailored clothes were big hits, some of them in metallic hues and others combined with denim. One of the fiercest looks was a set of metallic pants and a piece garment in the upper body.
