Sole Commerce Buzz is your exclusive preview to this year’s fair. Check the Daily every week for the brands we’re most excited about! Sole Commerce runs September 15 to 17.

1. Patricia Green
Patricia Green founded her eponymous line in 2000, initially as a slipper company. Unable to find a pair that were comfortable, warm, and beautiful, she started making her own. The results were mistaken by many as shoes. She began producing shoes for real, starting with a line of moccasins. She has since expanded her collection.

2. Vagabond
Vagabond was founded in Sweden in 1973, priding itself on craftsmanship and quality of design. These days the company is also proudly focused on sustainability, looking to “close the loop” of production. Through the Shoe Bring Back initiative, the brand asks consumers to drop off used shoes at its locations, rather than throwing them away. The used shoes are then either donated to charity (if they are still in good condition), or the materials are recycled into new Vagabond shoes.

3. Gabor
Gabor has a long history — the brand was originally founded in Germany in 1949 by Joachim and Bernhard Gabor — and remains a family business, run by Joachim’s son Achim. Today the brand makes a variety of shoes, as well as handbags.
