Ever felt defeated looking in the closet searching for something to wear? Wanting that one piece of clothing that always gives confidence and feels great? Join the club! Many women struggle to find the perfect thing to wear that reshapes their insecurities into confidence every time they put it on. Shradha Sud knew this struggle, too. But unlike many people, she did something about it.
Enter her brainchild, Akara leggings. And just in case you were thinking this is just another legging, know this: Shradha’s design is so revolutionary that she received a patent for it.
Shradha explains, “I was a new mom and realized my tummy was not going to bounce back to my pre-pregnancy days. When I got dressed, I felt depressed by my clothes. The shapewear solutions I tried either gave me a muffin top or were so constricting that I couldn’t stand it. I wanted something better.”
Luckily, Shradha is not a stranger to creating fashions to solve problems. When she was a pregnant lawyer in her native India, she found that there were no maternity clothes for professional women. So she created Mamacouture So working Indian women could “celebrate the bump” in work-appropriate clothes.
Fresh from the success of Mamacouture and after a move with her family to California, Shradha found her next challenge: creating a fashionable option for her changed body.
“I took a couple of years to test and experiment with different solutions. Finally, I hit upon the solutions that gave me shape and comfort,” Shradha shares.
So what makes these leggings so different? 360-degree core support comes from the innovative three bands that work together to form an 8-inch support structure. The bands evenly distribute the contour creating comfort and full coverage.
The three-band design also solves the other problems common with shapewear. The 8-inch band means full tummy coverage, Also, there is no rolling down, eliminating the dreaded muffin top. Most importantly, the three bands distribute the compression evenly, with no pressure points and discomfort.
But it is the fashion-forward style that has women reaching for the leggings again and again. Designed to go from work to working out or from running errands during the day to running the streets at night, the leggings fit seamlessly into any wardrobe and lifestyle.
“I wear my leggings everywhere. I feel so confident and comfortable,” Shradha says. “Plus the leggings come in a great selection of colors which, thanks to my daughter’s input, are all named for Taylor Swift songs,”
Shradha believes that every woman deserves to look and feel her best. The Akara means “shape” in Sanskrit. She wants to empower women to shape their bodies and lives.
“Akara’s philosophy is an extension of my personal belief that we have the power to shape our world and make it what we want it to be. Growing up as a girl in India, my parents never told me that I couldn’t do something,” Shradha shares. “ I always had the agency to shape my path and pursue what I wanted to become.”
She continues, “I have been inspired by so many women before me, who have shaped our worlds and made it better for all of us. And Akara’s philosophy is similar – shape your world and let it be what you want it to be. And we’re here to help and provide support along the way.”
Shradha Sud and Akara leggings mean there will never be that “What to wear?” fashion conundrum. With fashionable flair and comfortable contouring, women everywhere can confidently share their lives.
