Michael Bastian unveiled his Fall collection to kick off NYFW at the Rubin Museum of Art yesterday for a front row that included Stefano Tonchi, Lisa Salzer, Linda Fargo, Kelly Bensimon, and Ken Downing. Bastian took a little inspiration from Japanese men this season, explaining: “In a world where the cultural differences between how men dress in different countries are blurring, the Japanese are emerging as the world’s great ‘editors’, combining the best from all of the traditional menswear outposts in their own way. I like to think of it as a kind of reverse Take Ivy– here’s an American carefully observing how a particular group of Japanese men dress.” Once again, Bastian’s keeping us on our toes.
