The latest rundown from Cosmo‘s Sergio Kletnoy has some major highs and lows, but, as usual, JoCo’s right-hand man comes out on top. Some QT with one of Hollywood’s loveliest actresses? Not too shabby…
My week in a magical place called CosmoLand was a complete hullabaloo! I had no idea what day, month or year it was as each day felt longer than the last. Here’s the bad news: over the weekend my mom was in a car with two friends when they were hit by a drunk driver. One of her friends has a broken leg, hip and fractured ribs. The good news is, my mom and her second friend, apart from some bad bruises and whiplash, are both on bed rest and getting better. Luckily everyone is alive, but it puzzles me how anyone can get behind a wheel when they’re under the influence. Don’t drink and drive, kids! Onwards…
All week I felt like a hamster spinning inside a wheel, with no end in sight. Between THE BOSS’ tighter-than-inside-a-tuna-can schedule and prepping her trip to speak at SXSW next weekend, I had plenty of major moments. There was a run-in with Philly-born singer-songwriter Christina Perri. We compared our arm ink, but then she pulled up the left sleeve to and unfortunately she has me beat by about 40 tat’s. She even bragged about getting tattoos with her BFF Ed Sheeran. So, Madonna, if you’re reading this, we need matching tats pronto!
Then JoCo filmed a segment on extreme photoshopping for The Today Show with Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Natalie Morales and Al Roker. All four of the anchors made their way to our office for a fancy shoot inside a Hearst studio, only to be retouched, re-tucked and re-pulled to make them, in JoCo’s words “thinner, blonder, younger”. To which Lauer replied: “Really? Blonder? Even me?” As the gang of four stood in front of the camera, Joanna said: “I wish my whole life could be photoshopped”. Don’t we all JC, don’t we all!
My highlight was crashing Cosmo’s super hot beauty director Leah Wyar’s meeting with… Drew Blyth Barrymore. Drew stopped by the office to show off 39 brand new additions to her line of Flower Beauty products. With a second child on the way, her face was glowing. I adore Drew, and believe it or not, she was even sweeter than the characters she played in The Wedding Singer, Never Been Kissed and Ever After combined. Ever After also happens to be her favorite role yet. I told her she was lucky I didn’t bring in my copy of Poison Ivy, which is one of my all-time fave flicks. We also talked about her role in Grey Gardens and her mesmerizing portrayal of Edith Bouvier Beale aka Little Edie. She told me that she stayed in character and did not use her cell phone throughout filming, even off the clock.
After all the Flower Beauty talk I had my own questions for Drew, and she was more than happy to oblige. The one product she can’t live without is something called Skincognito by Flower Beauty, and the best tip she’s ever received from a make-up artist was the trick of highlighting and contouring. Of course the only reason I knew anything about H&C (highlighting & contouring) was thanks to the best show on television, RuPaul’s Drag Race. The queens on Drag Race talk about H&C every chance they get. Especially when they want to throw shade (look it up!). Since Drew is such a pro at H&C, we need to get her as a judge on Drag Race ASAP. I’m calling Ru as soon as I’m done writing this. On that note, have an excellent weekend, follow me on Twitter @SergioKletnoy for all things Sergio and be sure to check out my fave tunes of the week below.
