Sergio Says! Musings From Cosmo (And Beyond…)

by The Daily Front Row

Ready for a fresh dose of Sergio? Of course you are. Plenty of film screenings are on tap for Cosmo‘s main man, Sergio Kletnoy (assistant extraordinaire to EIC Joanna Coles) plus some QT with a gaggle of Real Housewives…

Sunday
I usually spend my Sundays on a couch, catching up on at least 20 hours of TiVo and stuffing my face with sour candy, salt & vinegar chips, and ice cream. But tonight, my BFF Courtney and I attended the screening of Rob The Mob at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema starring Andy Garcia, Midnight In Paris’ Nina Arianda, Ray Romano, Madonna’s Who’s That Girl co-star Griffin Dunne, Cathy Moriarty, and Boardwalk Empire’s Michael Pitt instead. The excellent edge-of-your-seat thriller is based on the true story about Bonnie and Clyde-like lovers who mastermind a string of heists and, in the process, help the FBI take down a major New York crime family. It opens on March 21st, and you better run, not walk. Yes, it’s that good!

Monday
While THE BOSS spent her last day at SXSW moderating panels and schmoozing with the cool kids, I spent the entire day at a major Cosmo cover shoot: catered food, champagne, a playlist created especially for the subject by moi and a hot girl posing in front of a camera…I lead a tough life!

Tuesday
After a “grueling day” at the office catching up on JoCo’s expenses, as well as upcoming trips to L.A., Washington DC and Buenos Aires, I was off to Tribeca Grand Hotel for The Cinema Society & Bushmill’s screening of DreamWorks Pictures’ Need for Speed starring everyone’s fave Breaking Bad & Big Love badass, Aaron Paul. Here’s the synopsis: Aaron Paul is a blue-collar mechanic who is a master at street racing. His crew consists of a bunch of hot dudes and they all work together in Aaron’s family-owned garage. When an opportunity of a lifetime comes Aaron’s way, he takes it and in the process loses a BFF and goes to jail for two years. When he finally gets out, he’s on a mission to clear his name and get revenge. Blah blah blah, cue lots of racing, drama, speeding across the country and a bounty hunt. This film was made for adrenaline junkies, and since it’s based on the most successful racing video game ever, expect a franchise a la Fast & Furious. Can’t deny it, I was definitely entertained, but you’ve been warned!

Wednesday
A film premiere invitation from Andrew Saffir, founder of The Cinema Society, is an automatic yes without hesitation in my world. It’s always the hottest ticket in town, at the coolest venues, filled with the most fabulous casts of characters. Case in point: W and The Cinema Society’s screening of Sony Pictures Classics’ Only Lovers Left Alive starring THE BOSS’ doppelgänger Tilda Swinton. Sidenote: at the 2012 Golden Globes Weinstein Company after-party, I spotted JoCo chatting with Tilda and made a beeline for that Kodak moment. Tilda must have thought I was nuts, but a few moments prior I met Madonna for the first time, and I was on a natural high. Needless to say, that photo is pinned on my wall at work, and most of the time I don’t know which one’s Joco and which one’s Tilda. Back to Only Lovers Left Alive, which I was super excited for since Tilda is a goddess who I would watch in anything…even a dramatic reading of a Sears catalog. There are of course a few things that could come between Tilda and me: Madonna is one, the Real Housewives of New York City is the other. So when this morning I received an invite for The Real Housewives of New York City season six premiere party I had to make a decision: the RHONY party was taking place at Tokya Sushi Lounge on 58th Street, at the same time as Tilda’s premiere at Landmark Sunshine Cinema downtown. Once again I was having a Sophie’s Choice moment. Ay dios mio! I chose Sonja, Ramona, LuAnn, Carole, Aviva, Heather and newbie Kristen over Tilda. GASP! This was reality show heaven, especially when I found myself sandwiched between my favorite three: Ramona, LuAnn and Sonja. They all looked like a million bucks, and if you aren’t a fan of the Real Housewives franchise, we can’t be friends! After a few cocktails with the housewives, I rushed to Soho’s newest hotspot Chalk Point Kitchen / The Handy Liquor Bar for the Only Lovers Left Alive afterparty. The space is sexy and cozy, the Blood Orange and Tangier Tipple Qui Tequila cocktails were delish, and the buttery shrimp, grilled chicken, and beet and tomato salad were to die for. The best part of the evening was people watching: Christy Turlington, Patti Smith, Stefano Tonchi, Peter Sarsgaard, Jonny Lee Miller, Michelle Hicks, Paul Haggis, David Byrne, Gina Gershon, Steve Buscemi, John Leguizamo, Carol Kane, Fisher Stevens, Scout Willis, Rachel Roy, Nicole Miller, Anna Sui, Judah Friedlander, Jazmin Grimaldi, Candy Pratts Price, Stacey Bendet Eisner, Sante D’Orazio, Crystal Renn, Fern Mallis, Nanette Lepore, Nicky Hilton, Pat Cleveland and, of course, the alien goddess herself, Tilda. Tonight was a perfect New York evening, I just need to figure out how to see this Tilda masterpiece that everyone was raving about before it’s in theatres. I know, I know, I’m a bit spoiled, I don’t like to wait…
