Monday
This evening at the Cinema Society with Alice and Olivia screening of Sony Pictures Classics’ “Austenland”, I took a trip into a magical place far far away. A place I didn’t want to leave, no matter how ridiculously absurd and painfully charming. “Austenland” is the ultimate chick flick, a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy starring Keri Russell and one of the funniest women alive, Jennifer Coolidge of Best In Show, Legally Blonde, and American Pie. Russell’s character is a woman obsessed with Pride and Prejudice, who after many failed attempts at love, decides to travel to a Jane Austen theme park in search of a perfect man. Sounds ridic, but it’s so much fun! When Russell meets Coolidge upon arrival, hilarity ensues. Best part of the film? You guessed it: J-Cool, who steals every scene she appears in, no matter the line, big or small. Did I mention that her luscious lips and perfect bosom are everything and they need their own show? The vision of Coolidge standing a foot away from me, live in person, pouting, made my night! Post screening, in my endless pursuit of Jennifer I decided to jet down to the after party, held on the rooftop of Jimmy at the James Hotel. Alas, an hour into chugging down Qui cocktails, named appropriately The Jane Austen and Mr. Darcy, I left without confessing my love for my fave funny lady. If only I had the balls to talk to her, we could have talked or not talked for hours…

Tuesday
Another night, another grandiose film premiere, this time at the MoMA. The hot ticket, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, attended by its stars Rooney Mara and Ben Foster. My fave bad girl pop star, Natalia Kills, came as my date, decked out in all black everything, with fiery-red-hot lips and a body for sin. This wasn’t just a film premiere, this was a MEGA premiere hosted by Downtown Calvin Klein and The Cinema Society. Once in our seats, Kills and I were sandwiched between Richard Gere, Donna Karan, Debra Winger (Gere’s love interest in An Officer and a Gentleman), Courtney Love, Zosia Mamet and Prabal Gurung (Natalia wears one of his creations on the cover of her must-have album “Trouble”, out in September). The film is a modern day Bonnie & Clyde-like love story set in Texas, about an outlaw who escapes prison in hopes of reuniting with his wife and a daughter he has never met. It wasn’t easy paying attention to this dark and moody masterpiece, especially with Gere behind me, Debra Winger on my left, Kills crying on my right and Courtney Love rocking slowly back in forth in front of me. After the premiere, Nat and I popped by the after party at Refinery Rooftop for Belvedere cocktails named The Outlaw & Texas Tipple, one of which was made with watermelon and was beyond delish. I still feel like a Sergio cocktail is in order. Maybe Cinema Society can make that happen?

Wednesday
Today was JoCo’s first day back in the office after a weeklong trip to LaLaLand. My workload was massive, with not a moment to kick up my feet and read Dlisted. I even chowed down my lunch on the go, which consisted of a Wendy’s Baconator, large fries, and a Sprite. After work I rushed to Times Squares’ Best Buy Theater for a baby-diva-in training, Ariana Grande’s concert in support of her debut album Yours Truly, out September 3rd. The show started and within seconds there was pandemonium: iPhone cameras flashing, girls and boys screaming at the top of their lungs and Ariana owned that stage like a pro. Her voice is reminiscent of Mariah Carey’s, her songs are undeniable and judging by the crowd’s reaction, she’s the next big thing. Her first single, “The Way” is a huge platinum smash, with over 78 million views on YouTube and upon hearing the rest of the album, I know this is one voice you will be hearing, humming along to and singing with for years to come. This girl can SANG! I’m already obsessed, which means the rest of the world isn’t far behind. Check out her latest, “Right There” featuring Big Sean and try not to fall in love. She’s taken!
