SELF Reveals A New Look: Inside The October Issue

After some big staffing shuffles at SELF mag over the past few months, the glossy has debuted a brand new look for their October issue, and it’s quite pretty, non? This is the first issue that fully shows EIC Joyce Chang’s touch on the title since she succeeded Lucy Danziger in the top gig in April. “Our reader is focused on winning in life. We’re focused on the woman making things happen for herself—at the gym, in her career, for her personal life,” Chang said in a recent print interview with The Daily. Who better to prove that point than cover gal Joan Smalls, shot by Patrick Demarchelier? Inside the issue, expect fitness tidbits aplenty, the hautest clothes to sweat in, and the latest breakthroughs in breast cancer research. Plus, Girl‘s Jenni Konner dishes on her exercise routine while Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn chats about creativity. And finally, the glossy works it out with Smalls and fellow mod Hilary Rhoda to get the dish on their fitness regimens. (Check out Rhoda’s arms…!) While you’ll have to patiently wait until September 30th to snag an issue on newsstands, check out two exclusive shots from inside the issue. If these images don’t make you want to hit the gym, well, what will?

As a representative of a group of women over 250,000 strong, we are getting sick and tired of only seeing the under 25 group. It’s sad that our society ignores the majority of the female population, who are not under 25, but at least we can make ourselves heard by boycotting the industry.
