Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2015

Prints galore! Massimiliano Giornetti delivered a vibrant collection with stellar graphic prints for Fall. The patterns mostly came in earthy tones of forest green, chestnut brown, mustard yellow, and a berry red. The focus was knitwear, with long slim turtleneck dresses and tops or a wrap dress with a must-have knotted leather belt, but the standout was the fur coat done in patches of dyed geometric fur. Even the heels had a triangular geometric element.

Capes were another theme, in soft, warm, oversized and pleated knit iterations. Giornetti got his start at Ferragamo working in knits, after all. A brown version nearly swept the floor and a much shorter red version fell across the chest and hung in the back over a matching pleated red dress. Two all-leather pleated skirt dresses, one in forest green and the other in burnt sienna, were noteworthy and an ode to the house’s leather making expertise. Ferragamo reported a six percent rise in revenue in January, and this stellar collection should ensure that upward trajectory.
